Hello 2020, hello Mexico! That’s right, we kicked off 2020 by travelling to Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda in Mexico to celebrate the wedding of Paige and Chris. Being able to escape the January cold for our first destination wedding was exactly what we needed!
For years leading up to Lovely Sparrow we knew that our goal was to combine the two things we love most – travelling the world and capturing gorgeous couples celebrating their love. Paige and Chris’ wedding did exactly that! We turned our work trip into a family vacation by bringing our kids (and Alex’s parents) with us, which has been an absolute dream of ours. I mean who wouldn’t want to bring their kids with them to a tropical paradise – and let’s be real Lovely Sparrow is practically our third baby so it only made sense to make it a family affair!
Even though our trip wasn’t instagram perfect (#instagramvsreality is totally a real thing) as our youngest Si got really sick right after we got there, we still had the best week. The weather was amazing, we had unlimited guac and margaritas, and our oldest Addy discovered her all time favourite drink – virgin Pina Colada’s! It’s safe to say that regardless of any of the normal travelling hiccups it was the absolute best way to start the new year.
Even more lovely then the location was the couple we got to work with. Paige and Chris were a complete joy to photograph. Paige had to have been one of the happiest brides. Her personality completely came through in every photo – constantly smiling and full of life. Both Paige and Chris absolutely love the beach; which naturally made having a beach ceremony surrounded by the ones they love most the perfect choice. It was simple, private and intimate. A destination wedding creates such a different vibe because it really gives the bride and groom an opportunity to interact with their guests over a longer period of time. Plus it makes for some epic shots!
One of our favourite things about weddings is finding creative ways to incorporate the unique aspects of the venue. Since everything about this resort was breathtaking it was pretty easy to do. Huge thanks to the best bridal party ever for literally shutting down the busiest pathway so we could take the most gorgeous portraits using the palm trees as a backdrop. I guess you could say bridal parties also double as security sometimes!
The outdoor reception was nothing short of a celebration (or in this case ‘shellebration’). The dance floor was colourful and fun and fit the theme of the day perfectly.
Paige and Chris you taught us that memories of a beach wedding will last long after the footprints in the sand are gone.
– Stay Lovely
